Wind Power Complements Solar Power
December 1st, 2009Trees, hedges, buildings can all interfere with wind flow which means that you turbine will not work efficiently. You could have the best design wind turbine ever built but if the wind flow is no good that means it simply will not work as it is supposed to. You may also want to keep in mind if building a homemade wind turbine, your neighbors. While you may want to help the environment or even just save yourself some extra cash, this doesn mean that your neighbors will see things the same way you do. Using this process, energy is created when the sun is shining, with no need for the electricity company to supply you with power. The only disadvantage of solar panels is their need of sunlight, which cannot be used at night or cloudy days. However, there is a solution to this problem. It is called wind turbines. Wind turbines can be seen as a complement to a solar power system. In places with no sun or many clouds there is usually a strong wind, and strong wind is exactly what wind turbines need. Proper installation of wind turbines is very essential because of the following reasons. Installation of a 42 feet or more structure is not a simple task. The installation must be perfect to ensure that there are no safety concerns. Even the smallest flaw in installation can have severe consequences. A wind turbine may look like nothing more than a fan attached to a long pole. Since wind-turbines formulate no pollution, you will be offsetting the pollution that would have in the first place been caused by the utility company. Research have recorded that through a life-time of a residential wind turbine, around 2400 lb of air pollutants and over 400000 pounds of greenhouse fumes will be cancelled. Talk about going green!Do wind measures have to be taken to put in wind-turbines for the home? For most residential areas, getting proper wind measurements is not essential.
