The Many Benefits of Buying Refurbished Networking Equipment

June 30th, 2010

Networking equipment is a massive investment for nearly all businesses, especially if it requires networked computers and the Internet to function. As well as the initial investment, IT equipment must have regular maintenance and updates and this oftentimes has to be performed by a network engineer. And everyone recognizes that having a computer systems down whether for regular upgrades or repairs is bound to result in a painful profit loss.

Buying second hand computer hardware and other items helps businesses to reduce the initial spending, particularly when a business is in its infancy and professionals setting up a business alone because of the massive investments they’ve already made. Hence, the strategy of sourcing used processors and zip drives is very sound. Virtually any hardware required to run your company may be sourced, reducing costs in total. It can be difficult to get exactly what you want from newly released hardware. Nevertheless purchasing refurbished equipment that will meet your requirements can look like an overwhelming project, specially if you know you need refurbished IBM RS6000 servers for instance. If you’re using suppliers that specialize in second hand servers and second hand information storage, they will do most of the work for you. In fact you can source units with specific characteristics, a particular model, and occasionally even further options available to you.

Lots of the problems with advances in technology don’t come to light until the computer hardware is already in use. Regrettably this can call for a lot of downtime for repairs and upgrades. As a matter of fact it is not unusual for businesses to absorb the loss and replace their new system completely.

This isn’t a problem with second-hand servers and other equipment because they have generally been used for some time. You will not need to spend your precious time dealing with the bugs commonly found in the most recently launched equipment. In addition, as they’re throroughly refurbished before being resold, you do not need to be concerned over dependability. The key to purchasing the most suitable used IT equipment is choosing excellent suppliers. Do some research and find somebody with experience in the industry. This ensures the items you need are working properly. A warranty is essential, in case something goes wrong. For businesses that make the decision to skip the latest computer hardware and purchase second hand computer hardware, the advantages encompass more than simply saving money. So make the effort to research all the options and IT financing options before you make a buying decision.

To Mend or Not to Mend that Is the Question

June 26th, 2010

We get thousands of error messages on the computer in it’s lifetime, right. I normally just disregard them and press OK or else cancel and keep on with what I’m doing. Now this was until every 5 minutes a message started popping up on my computer and it was not going down without a fight. One of my drivers had a problem the message stated, I did not know what a driver was, so I searched on the internet for a drive guide or manual and obtained some information about the problem. I’m a bit cheap, if I can somehow manage to fix the issue on my own I would rather do it than spending cash and calling for an engineer to solve it. The guide for the hardware fix which I discovered on the internet, I read through it and adopted the instructions written on it. I downloaded a free driver software program from the website given in the guide and restarted my pc for the modifications to take effect. My computer was functioning very slowly, I assumed it was because of the program set up in progress which the manual requested me to install. As soon as my pc loaded I logged on the internet as usual assuming that the problem was solved. The error message after that jumped again on my screen. I was so irritated as I had spent half of the day making an attempt to fix the issue and it was still there on my laptop. This time I was not able to get rid of the message and the display screen also started to flicker badly, the issue got worse. I was dependent on it for my work, but for the next couple of days it was impossible to work on it. Now I had no choice but to take my laptop computer to a computer engineer. I explained to the engineer what was taking place and that I had tried to repair it myself, the engineer took one look at my laptop and stated that the initial problem was simple to fix but that because I had tried to repair it myself I had made it worse. The truth is I had fallen victim to a web-based scam, the driver software program I had downloaded was actually a phishing virus! The engineer informed me to get some security software which he after that installed and this got rid of the trojan virus that was on my pc, he then fixed my driver problem. If I would not have been so low-cost then it would have cost me much less but now I spend £200 on the entire thing.

7 Barebones Computer Buying Tips

December 31st, 2009

Getting a new computer should be a cool thing, especially a cheap computer. After all that time struggling with you old machine, probably fighting with it to get the latest software to run, your new computer should be a ray of light for your computing future.

Oh, if it were that simple. If things were really that easy or simple when buying a cheap computer, life would be much easier, but just like every other thing, its not that simple.

Barebones computers have become extremely popular, and for good reason. Getting a barebones computer which does not include a monitor and comes with the bear minimum of parts makes them an upgradable, practical and cheap computer.

But not all things are rosy in barebones computer land…

1. Missing parts

Although barebones computers do come with the essential pieces, most people need at least one or two extras for their day to day barebones system. This is simply due to different applications people use them for. Don’t get caught missing that extra part from your barebones system that you then need to get later. You still need to do some homework and research to find out what you really need from your barebones system.

2. Super cheap computer deals

Beware, many corners can be cut to get those sub $200 dollar barebones systems. They can be great, but not always, carefully analyse the components of the package. Also remember that a barebones system couldn’t possibly include a monitor for that price, which adds a lot to the price.

3. Mismatched parts

This could become a problem if building your own computer, but it even happens in pre-assembled barebones computer deals. There is a chance that you get something that doesn’t fit with the barebones system. There are lots of different connections and speed ratings between parts. Make sure the ones you get match up to the other parts and your needs. Although not common, incompatibilities between parts are not unheard of.

4. Outdated components

To get super-cheap deals older parts are sometimes used in cheap computers. Although this can be a great cost-saver and some old parts are fantastic, there is nearly no chance of an upgrade without putting a major amount of money into your barebones computer again, perhaps as much if not probably more than you paid for your great deal.

5. Defective parts

Although this is another one that has gotten better as the competition has gotten stronger, there is a chance of defects in cheaper products. Your motherboard could be faulty, your power supply might give up after a month or two. These may not be intentional problems, but come hand in hand with “cheap computer stuff”.

6.Refurbished computer parts

Refurbished computer parts are a great way to save some money. Not always the biggest saver, but there can be problems with the updates to these computers in much the way as mismatches happen in barebones systems. Often the computer is slightly updated to meet needs, but is really quite an old model, just with upgrades. Can be fine, but the parts they replace might be replaced with something newer but inferior.

7. Claims of great warranty

To try and entice you into feeling safe, offers of long warranties are made. Most of the parts in the computer could have past their warranty dates, so the warranties are purely from the company that put the computer together. They can be hard to contact and take their time to get replacements to you as well as expect you to mail the computer to them so that they can do the repairs.

Barebones computers can be a great way to put together a second computer, build a computer for simple purposes, like writing documents and casual web surfing. Barebones fit perfectly as a second computer. Just keep these things in mind and you won’t get bitten by the bargain bin monster.

The PS3 Is an Experience, it Is More than Just a Game Console

September 4th, 2008

While a new video game console can bring your family entertainment for many hours, picking the wrong one due to bad information can lead to serious disappointment. When you are shopping for a new game console, you may find it difficult as there are so many different options to choose from. There is misinformation everywhere, so the information you are looking for may prove difficult to find.

What type of games do you find interesting?
Do you plan on buying an HDTV anytime soon or do you already have one?

Why dont we go over your financial situation so we can figure out what your budget is for it?

Do you prefer multi-player games, or single-player games?
Do you currently have any of the old game systems?

There was a period in time where one could not find a game system that cost more. It’s a good thing that you will now find lower prices on them. Now priced at four hundred US dollars (it all depends on the model you plan on buying)it has pricing that is more attractive compared their competitors. Prices change constantly so chech the latest games consoles prices online.

The Playstation 3 is more than another mere game console! It has the capability to be a Blu-Ray, CD, or DVD player; as well as; it can upgrade DVDs to HD. The PS3 would be perfect for those with an HDTV and no HD movie player as you can get both of your movie and gaming experiences in the same box. This is with the latest technology of Blu-Ray, the leading high-definition movie format. Without an HDTV display, movies in Blu-ray format don’t provide any better quality. This feature doesn’t translate well for use with a standard definition set.

While virtually the same as the PS2 controller, the controller features motion sensing technology known as Sixaxis. The controller, which can be tilted in six different directions, is able to sense which of the directions to which it has been tilted. How well this is going to work varies from each game. Doing it well means you’ll gain lots of experience, doing it wrong means you’ll be nothing more than a problem. The vibration feature is missing from the Sixaxis controller. The newly released DualShock 3 controller with vibration will not be included with newly purchased PS3s until June 12, 2008.

You will find a lot of the same games for Xbox 360 and PS3.
