Tournament Strategies-Start Slow

February 2nd, 2010

Poker is an incredibly complex game-there are so many nuances and strategies that trying to remember them all every time you play will often overwhelm you. I used to find myself going over endless mental notes when I drove up to a venue to play poker, only to find myself forgetting everything by the time I sit down at a table. Over the years, I’ve found that remembering a few basic strategies that I think are vital is enough to get me by. If I focus on just a few important basics, I’m not overwhelmed with information. I can play with good fundamentals and recall specific strategies as the need arises.

My number one rule of poker online tournaments is to start slowly. When the game begins, I play tight poker online, only playing the best starting hands. Since I’m mostly folding in the beginning, I get to observe my opponents and figure out what kind of players they are. Also, as the game progresses, I will start use my tight reputation to my advantage. By the time the blinds are worth stealing, my opponents think that I only play with premium cards. Since they’re prone to folding to me when I raise, I find that I can bluff with some success later in the tournament.

Wedding Musicians: Five Hints before You Book

January 29th, 2010

Setting Up for live wedding music is just one of about a millionprojects facing brides and wedding planners. Between flowers, photographers, venues, gowns, parties, rings, video recording, and more, even a little and subdued wedding makes for a tremendous amount of planning. It can be a trying time because if even one of these areas falls through the cracks, your big day can end up being a super disappointment.

Here are five hints to hiring live wedding instrumentalists for your wedding and reception:

1. Make sure you engage a band with a established track record of professionalism. Does the handler return your phone calls promptly? Does the dance band have a web site? Business cards? Other marketing materials? Or do you get the feeling you’re speaking to a guy rehearsing in his garage with his pals? The way the band presents itself as you begin speaking with them is a great indicator of how they’ll come on (or not!) on your special day.

2. Punctuality is important. When you set an date to meet in person or on the telephone, it’s like a mini-contract. If the band manager is late to meet with you, it’s a warning sign that they don’t take their agreements earnestly. If they can’t come through on time in the preparation phase, what other understandings will they abandon with you on your wedding day? This carries on to you, likewise – being prompt is just one way you can live a life that shows that you respect your commitments.

3. Make sure the band is easy-going rather than being a bunch of prima donnas. By now you’ve probably heard a million Bridezilla jokes, even if you’re not hard-to-please or excessive. Imagine engaging the equal in craziness for your wedding band. The last thing you need on your wedding day is to have to wait on your musicians hand and foot, bringing them food and beverage, having the thermostat changed for them, or tending to other exacting demands. The greatest band for you is one that can take care of itself, one that’s easy to get along with, and one that does all it can to make sure your day is effortless and fun for you.

4. Charter a wedding band that’s fun. Getting hitched is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make. It’s serious business. The music on your wedding day should be glorious and fun. You don’t want to see your guests inattentive, spaced-out, and wishing the event was done with. You want them up, dancing, singing, and grinning. If you pick out a live wedding music band well, your choice will do a lot to make your wedding day memorable in a good way. This is the big day you’ve been looking for, and music is such a important part of it. Make sure you hire a dance band that makes the day ideal – pleasurable for you and your guests.

Taking Command of Coin Flips

January 21st, 2010

In poker tournaments, players inevitably find themselves in “coin flip” situations. These are the instances when a player with a good made hand, like pocket Jacks, bets and gets called by someone with two over-cards, like Ace Queen.

These situations can’t be completely avoid in online poker tournaments because the escalating blinds force players to take a stand. Is there any way to finesse the coin flip scenario?

Because the outcome of a coin flip is about 50/50, getting all your chips into one is a potential way to double up or end your tournament life. A 50 percent chance of winning is not considered good odds, so you have to be very judicious about when to engage in the coin flip confrontation, and take charge. The best way to take charge is to be the aggressor and force your opponent to take a defensive position and make a decision. By doing so, you create fold equity for yourself – your opponent may simply fold and you win the pot.

If you are called, you’ve still got a 50 percent chance to finish first. By putting your opponent on the spot, you have a better chance of winning. And conversely, you want to avoid those flip decisions where you have to respond with a call. You are immediately at a disadvantage without the fold equity enjoyed by the aggressor.

When you play in tournaments, you cannot always avoid the heads-up coin flip situation, so look for the opportunity where you can be the aggressor. Remember this when you play poker online.

Hand Analysis: 2-10

January 7th, 2010

Ten deuce offsuit is commonly known as the Doyle Brunson hand, for his having twice won the main event at the World Series of Poker with it, in years back to back. As a result of the namesake, you find more regularly find players willing to throw some money in on what is truly a garbage poker hand, simply under the logic that “if Doyle played with it and won, why shouldn’t I be?” The difference in Doyle’s situation and, say, playing the same online poker hand in a full ring game, is that in Doyle’s spots he was playing heads up. In heads up situations, some mythologies would say that raising with any two cards is a good move. And yes, putting pressure on your opponent when it is just the two of you is often wise. What people don’t tend to mention, though, is that both times with the 10 2, Doyle drew out on his opponent to win the online poker hand. He’d been behind, and heading for troubled waters, when a good turn or river brought him the better hand. So again, the numbers for a mismatched hand like this are just begging you to lay it down, and let a hand go once in a while, whether it has a famous name or not.

How to Play Euro Lottery in an Efficient Way and Then Draw the Lotto Result You Deserve

August 2nd, 2009

Have you ever so wondered what the easiest means to play euro millions is?

How could you acquire as much as attainable? Or even to pocket a European Lotto Jackpot?

Some players just leisurely walk across the high street and then buy their so-called lotto tickets. They hope to win. But then the odds of winning the lotto are one in a few of millions…not very likely, do you think?

Therefore what can you really do to boost your odds?

Fortunately, according to the European Lotto statistics, 2 in 3 of Lottery Jackpot winners are syndicates!

Therefore, we all possess the solution. Evidently you will gain a better opportunity to win the Jackpot if you subscribe to a syndicate.

How lotto syndicates work?

A Euro Millions Syndicate is a group of players who combine their money and buy as many lotto tickets as possible. Each and every ticket has unique numbers; hence odds are better than taking part on your own.

If the syndicate wins, every member has a portion from the lotto winnings. Thus the more lottery players that are in your syndicate the bigger your particular odds are but; also your portion is smaller.

Straight Off you may wonder how to find a trusty syndicate with optimal number of players…

You can simply do a little review on the internet, use – Google, Yahoo and Bing or possibly several other search engines. Or you could see some in your local newspapers in classified advertisements section.

Or you might decide to join e-lottery

There are a lot of reasons

- You get a professional service
- You will not miss a draw
- You will get detailed statistics in your players back office
- Your Particular winnings are gathered plus you will have a Cheque, MoneyBookers, or Click2Pay payment with your individual portion!

- All this plus a lot more from the comfort of your individual home

For me it means that the lotto syndicate utilizes a tried and trusted mathematical system and that guarantees that you will match at least one lottery number in every prize draw.

Also, that means that even your individual portion from Euromillions syndicate winnings is larger than you may win taking part in same lottery numbers on your own!

Plus finally, that means you can become an affiliate partner and after qualifying for some obtainable, attainable requirements you can be taking part in your favorite Euromillions syndicate Free of Charge…or maybe you can be effectively constructing your new income while taking part in lotto.

The choice is yours:

The choice is yours – Take Part on your own. Or play the smarter way:

Play in a European Lottery syndicate and win much more often.

Or maybe become even smarter and:

Play in a Euromillions syndicate and win much more often and cover your ticket cost and play for free + have an additional income.

Taking Time to Consider Your Options

July 13th, 2009

Often when faced with a decision in poker en ligne, it can be easy to want to act immediately, going with your gut. And while the gut move is often the correct one, it should be an important part of any player’s turn in the action to considered not only what the instinct seems to be saying, but what all of the options in a jeux de casino hand might lead to. Each time the action swings back around to you in a poker online hand, you have at least a couple options. If there has been previous action in the round, there is raising, calling, and folding, or if there has been no bet ahead, there is betting or checking. Though it may seem obvious in certain spots which is which, taking the time to at least run through your options, and consider where you are at, ingrains in your routine the reflection and pause to keep yourself from acting too rashly in spots where the decision is less clear. It also acts as a bonus in that if you always take your time, your opponents will not be able to use your reaction time as a measure of what kind of hand you have.

Game Types: Loose Passive

May 4th, 2009

Types of poker online games differ as much as the players that you will encounter. Just like the variation on the people that you are bound to meet at the casino table, the different game types will (or should) influence how you will choose to play when you come up against them. Of the different types that you will find, Loose Passive is the game that you want to be a part of.

A Loose Passive game is one where the betting is loose, but timid. The players are eager to call, but will fold under the slightest opposition. The result is a table of huge pots that are readily susceptible to bluffs and opt purchases. The Loose Passive game is the place for a guy who knows how to bluff, because you will usually find a table of people who will pay the blinds to play crappy hands, but don’t think twice about folding when they are raised.

These online poker games are few and far between, but if you find yourself at one, count yourself lucky, and play aggressive. Test the waters out with a few preflop raises when you’re last to act, and play a bit more aggressive with your moderate hands.

How to Computer Rough Poker Odds

September 22nd, 2008

Commonly it is very valuable to be able to have some kind of idea of the odds of making your hand in a poker game, online poker or in a casino. If you are able to figure out your odds of winning, you can then apply this information to how much you stand to win in the pot and the pot odds you are being given to draw at the hand (a risk vs. reward kind of situation).

While a lot of poker analysts and writers on TV would make it sound that in order to compute these kind of numbers you need to be some kind of math genius, in truth there is a very quick and easy way to answer most situations. If you can multiple two numbers, you’ll be able to get an idea.

First you need to be able to count your ‘outs.’ Outs are considered cards that you need to make your hand, so if you are drawing at an open ended straight, you have two cards you can hit (assuming they are all still in the deck) or 8 outs. With a flush draw, if you have 4 to the flush, you then have 9 other cards of that suit you can get to make your hand. Counting odds is often straight forward in this way, but can get a little more hairy when you are counting overcards and the like.

In general, the odds calculations amount to this: with two cards to come, you multiply the number of outs you have times 4. So, say, if you have AK and you end up in the pot on the flop against someone who has one pair, you have six outs (assuming there are no other kinds of draws), and are 24% to win on the turn or river (not so good).

With one card to come, you multiply your outs by 2. So in the situation above, if you miss on the turn, and you still have 6 outs left to hit, you are a 12% chance to win. Add in, say, that if a Q comes you would make a straight, you now have 10 outs, and are 20% to win, etc.

It’s all much more simple than it might seem and with a little practice, can become second nature at poker
