Basketball Uniform Evolution

July 9th, 2009

Basketball uniformsBasketball uniforms tend to follow today’s currents and tendencies more than any other sports uniforms or equipment. They will be tight-fitting when the trend is for tight-fitting clothes, and will be loose and baggy, sometimes hanging past a player’s knees, when that is what people are wearing that year. They constantly evolve to suit the trends of the people who wear them. However, basketball uniforms are unlikely to go back to being made of cotton even with a growing trend of using natural fibers, since cotton fibers retain the moisture a player will sweat, thus leaving him or her wet throughout the game. Modern fibers that are synthetic tend to draw moisture away from the body of the person wearing them and the person therefore stays dry and cooler. Gordon International Basketball uniform shoes have also gotten lighter and sturdier all at once, thus enabling the player wearing them to play a better game due to better support. As synthetic leathers improve we can expect to see those improvements reflected in basketball uniform basketball uniform shoes, allowing better breathability, lighter design yet again, and better durability for the wearer. While they have been out for several decades now, the advent of high top basketball shoes was a major leap for this sport, providing better protection for the players’ ankles.
